City of Huntsville closure information for Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

City of Huntsville municipal offices will be closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, January 20.  This includes Animal Services, Parks & Recreation, Public Transit (shuttle and paratransit) and Municipal Court.

  • Garbage Collection:  residential curbside collection will be delayed one day for the week of Jan. 20-24. Monday’s collection will be picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday’s will be collected on Wednesday, and so on.
  • Public Safety:  Police and Fire essential personnel will remain on duty throughout the holiday.
