Community Development Manager Scott Erwin recently accepted an invitation to speak with Congressional representatives on the House Financial Services Committee in Washington.
The committee has oversight over many of the grant programs the City’s Community Development department administers, including the Home Investment Partnership (HOME), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs.
Erwin met with Housing & Insurance Subcommittee Chairman Mike Flood of Nebraska, Ranking Member Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri and staff from the office of Congressman Dale Strong, who represents the Huntsville area. The discussion focused on how targeted reforms would allow grant funds to reach more of Huntsville’s citizens. Erwin also shared stories that illustrate these programs’ impact on the Huntsville community.
