Community Kite Festival brings high-flying fun to John Hunt Park

Published on March 1, 2023

The City of Huntsville, Downtown Huntsville Inc. and AshaKiran Foundation invite the public to the 11th annual Community Kite Festival on Saturday, March 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at John Hunt Park, 2151 Airport Road, Huntsville.

The free festival fosters inclusiveness, diversity, equity and harmony across all ethnic and social backgrounds by bringing people together through kite-flying and family-friendly activities.

Attendees can bring their own kite, purchase one at the event or simply show up to enjoy the celebration as kites and gliders soar across the sky. The public is encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to comfortably enjoy the festival grounds.

Other activities include free art projects, music from the Huntsville Community Drumline and train rides. There will be special appearances by Huntsville Havoc mascots Chaos and Ruckus. Huntsville City Football Club players will also attend, prior to taking on the Savannah Clovers in their first home preseason match at John Hunt Park Championship Soccer Fields.

Local food trucks will have items available for purchase, including barbeque, sandwiches, ice cream and more. In the event of inclement weather, the Community Kite Festival will take place Saturday, March 11.
