Office and industrial projects topped the list of non-commercial building permits in November. Residential permits were down year-over-year, while Certificates of Occupancy (COs) increased.

Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits

In November, 82 housing units were permitted, 77 single- and 5 multi-family. The top tracts for building permits last month were 106.12 (72 West) and 109.01 (Hampton Cove), where 16 units were permitted each, all single-family. This is a 43.4% decrease over November 2015, when 145 housing units (77 single- and 68 multi-family) were permitted.

Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits

149 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), including 79 single- and 70 multi-family units. The top tract for CO’s in the month of November was 31 (Downtown) where 55 housing units were added, all multi-family. This is a 31.9% increase over November 2015, when 113 housing units (63 single- and 50 multi-family) were granted CO’s.
