Fall Youth Sports – A Quick Update

Parks & Recreation is getting ready for a busy fall season of scheduling, planning, and facilitating youth sports. The department offers four youth sports in the fall: Cheerleading, Football, Soccer and Volleyball.

Registration for these sports always takes place at local parks and/or recreation centers during the last two Saturdays in July and first Saturday in August. Many leagues also have online registration that can be done during that time.

While the department has a handful of employees that oversee youth sports, the seasons would not be possible without the dedicated volunteers who coach, manage teams, run concessions and volunteer for league boards. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for any of our sports, please e-mail Jay Cloys at jay.cloys@huntsvilleal.gov.

Recently two of our youth athletic leagues – Patriot and National – have combined to create the new Liberty League, which will utilize the shared facilities and resources of the previous leagues to better serve the youth in the area. If you have any specific questions about the merger, contact Jay Cloys at jay.cloys@huntsvilleal.gov or (256) 883-3292.
