“We couldn’t be happier to take part in Random Acts of Kindness Day,” Mayor Tommy Battle said. “This is a great time to show our commitment to making our community and world better – one compliment, gift or act of service at a time. By seeing City departments participate in the challenge, we hope others feel encouraged to do the same.”

According to the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation, there are scientifically proven benefits of being kind. Not only can being kind increase one’s lifespan and feel-good hormones like oxytocin and serotonin, it can also decrease pain, stress, anxiety, depression and blood pressure.

Random Acts of Kindness Day culminates Random Acts of Kindness Week, Feb. 12-18. Learn more about the foundation’s mission by visiting their website.
