HPD arrests Huntsville man in child sexual abuse investigation

A Huntsville man has been charged with multiple felony sex offenses following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a child victim who previously lived in Huntsville.
The investigation began Feb. 26 after the Huntsville Police Department’s (HPD) Special Victims Unit (SVU) was contacted regarding the allegations.
Investigators determined the victim and Jonathan Paul Taylor, 44, of Huntsville, were known to one another and that the alleged abuse occurred while both were living in Huntsville.
As part of the investigation, SVU investigators coordinated with the McLean County Children’s Advocacy Center in Bloomington, Ill. During the course of the investigation, investigators obtained a search warrant and secured evidence, which was later analyzed by HPD’s Digital Forensics Team. That evidence helped investigators establish probable cause for multiple felony warrants.
Taylor was arrested Monday, May 4, and booked into the Madison County Jail. He is charged with:
- First-degree rape
- First-degree sodomy
- Sexual torture
- Sexual abuse of a child less than 12
- Production of pornography involving a minor
- Possession of child pornography
Due to the sensitive nature of the case and to protect the identity of the victim, no additional information will be released at this time.
