HPD Prescription Drug Drop Box –Fourth Quarter 2019 Results

Huntsville Police is heading into its fifth year of maintaining drug depositories for unwanted and unused drugs. This past year we have added bins in both the North and South Precincts. The fourth quarter of 2019, the drug take back bins have taken in 457 lbs of unused drugs. The total taken for 2019 is 1877 lbs. Previous year’s total weights are: 2018 – 1458 lbs; 2017 – 1090 lbs; 2016 – 921 lbs.

Disposing of your unused or unwanted medications is great way to keep those around you safe and keeping medications out of our water system. If you have unwanted or expired prescription drugs that need to be discarded, the 815 Wheeler Ave location remains available 24/7 and the lobby desk is staffed by HPD Officers. The precinct locations are Mon-Fri during business hours.
