HUBS Coop Donates Public Bike Repair Station to City of Huntsville

May is National Bike Month, a time to celebrate the joy of cycling, healthy living and community connection. In that spirit, the City of Huntsville has gratefully accepted a donation from the Huntsville Urban Bike Share Coop (HUBS Coop) for a bicycle maintenance station valued at $1,950 for public use.

The donation is another step toward making Huntsville more bike-friendly and accessible for riders of all skill levels. The station will provide cyclists with convenient access to tools and equipment for basic bike repairs and maintenance. Its final location will be determined through collaboration and careful consideration.

The unit is designed for public spaces such as parks, trails and community recreation centers. The station includes retractable tools and a built-in air pump, making repairs simple and convenient.

Features include nine common bike tools attached with retractable braided stainless-steel cables, a tire pump and a long air hose that allows for a wide range of motion.

Cyclists can use the station for tasks such as inflating tires, adjusting seats and handlebars, tightening bolts and making other minor repairs.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to donate the Saris Deluxe Workstand to the city of Huntsville. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on repairing and donating bicycles at no charge to the Huntsville community, we know how essential it is to have a working and well-maintained bicycle,” said Jacob Hell with HUBS Coop. “This work stand will allow cyclists to repair their bikes using bike-specific tools at a city park. The work stand itself lets the rider place their bicycle in a lifted position, where they can inflate the tires, tighten bolts, adjust brakes, and tune the bike’s shifting. By installing this work stand, the city adds another amenity to one of its many great parks.”
