Hundreds of families stopped in for safety guidance, on‑site veterinary services and free pet supplies including collars, leashes, treats and pet food.

Boom Proof by the Numbers

  • 311 pets served
  • 266 DAPP vaccines administered
  • 266 rabies vaccines administered
  • 212 pets microchipped
  • 87 spay/neuter vouchers distributed
  • 166 Huntsville City and 138 Madison County families

“When we provide microchips, ID tags and education upfront, we dramatically increase the chances of pets being reunited with the families who love them,” Animal Services Director John Fischer said. “Events like this give us a chance to get ahead of the problem by empowering families with what they need before the celebrations begin.”

The “Boom Proof Your Pet” initiative continues to play a major role in reducing the number of lost pets—and in turn, shelter crowding—following seasonal fireworks.

Huntsville Animal Services extends a special thanks to the Huntsville Animal Service Foundation for sponsoring all vaccines, microchips and pet food provided at the event.
