Huntsville Animal Services to close March 16 for staff training seminar

Published on March 11, 2021

Huntsville Animal Services (HAS) will close its doors to the public for one day next week as staff members and volunteers participate in a program that could lead to higher adoption rates.

Next week, March 16-18, HAS will welcome Dogs Playing for Life, a Florida-based nonprofit that works with shelters on methods to reduce stress on shelter dogs through small playgroups. By reducing stress, dogs display fewer aggressive tendencies and have a better quality of life. It also increases their chances of being fostered or finding a forever home.

Because the seminar begins Tuesday, March 16, HAS will close its doors for the day. It will reopen at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 17.

HAS is located at 4950 Triana Boulevard in Huntsville. To learn more, call 256-883-3783, visit HuntsvilleAL.gov/Animal or HAS on Facebook.
