New industrial and office space topped the list of non-residential permits issued last month. Residential certificates of occupancy doubled year-over-year.


Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

In July, 133 housing units were permitted, 73 single- and 60 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 212 (Greenbrier), where 61 units were permitted, 1 single- and 60 multi-family. This is a 6.34% decrease over July 2016, when 142 housing units (102 single- and 40 multi-family) were permitted.


Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

204 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 81 single- and 123 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of July was 106.22 (Providence) where 88 housing units were added, 4 single- and 84 multi-family. This is a 132% increase from July 2016, when 97 housing units (73 single- and 24 multi-family) were granted CO’s.

Orange: Contract amount greater than $1 Million

Green: Contract amount between $500,000-$999,999

Blue: Contract amount between $100,000-$499,999
