Labor Day Holiday – City Offices and Facilities Closed

The City of Huntsville’s municipal offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, September 7, in recognition of the Labor Day holiday. Normal operating hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.


Garbage Collection: Monday’s holiday will impact garbage collection for the week of September 7-11, delaying pickup by one day. Garbage normally collected on Monday will be collected on Tuesday, and so on. For more information, visit HuntsvilleAL.gov/trash.

Recycling collection, managed by the Solid Waste Disposal Authority, will also be delayed by one day.


Public Transit:  Orbit bus and Access paratransit service will not be in service on Monday, September 7. Normal operating hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

The Greyhound office will also be closed. Greyhound buses will continue to arrive and depart the downtown station as scheduled. However, all ticket purchases on this day must be made online at greyhound.com.


Parks & Recreation: All recreation centers and pools will be closed Monday. Splash pads operated by Huntsville’s Parks and Recreation department will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.


Public Safety

Police, Fire & Rescue and 911 emergency services will operate as usual throughout the Labor Day weekend.
