Building permits were issued for approximately $20 million in non-residential projects last month. Residential CO’s doubled year-over-year.


Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

In May, 145 housing units were permitted, 130 single- and 15 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 113 (Green Mountain/Owens Cross Roads), where 24 units were permitted, all single-family. This is a 52.7% decrease over May 2018, when 307 housing units (113 single- and 194 multi-family) were permitted.


Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

219 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 96 single- and 123 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of May was 109.01 (Hampton Cove) where 82 housing units were added, 18 single- and 64 multi-family. This is a 100.9% increase from May 2018, when 109 housing units (103 single- and 6 multi-family) were granted CO’s.
