Industrial projects and a new shopping center were among the top non-residential building permits issued last month. Residential permits increased year-over-year.


Residential Permits (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

In November, 131 housing units were permitted, 90 single- and 41 multi-family. The top tract for building permits last month was 212 (Greenbrier), where 40 units were permitted, 4 single- and 36 multi-family. This is a 45.5% increase over November 2016, when 90 housing units (85 single- and 5 multi-family) were permitted.


Residential Certificates of Occupancy (new construction) in Huntsville city limits:

148 housing units were granted certificates of occupancy (CO’s), 88 single- and 60 multi-family. The top tract for CO’s in the month of November was 106.22 (Providence) where 62 housing units were added, 2 single- and 60 multi-family. This is a 9.8% decrease from November 2016, when 164 housing units (94 single- and 70 multi-family) were granted CO’s.
