‘Paw-ty animals’: Huntsville Animal Services to host Fall Block Party
Published on September 5, 2023
It may be too warm to cozy up by the fire, but the “paw-ty animals” at Huntsville Animal Services are ready to cuddle regardless of the temperatures.
To kick off autumn in style, Huntsville Animal Services is hosting a Fall Block Party. The free community event celebrating our loveable “block-headed” breeds will take place Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the shelter on 4950 Triana Blvd. SW.
Show up to meet our pets, but stick around for games, local vendors like Kona Ice and free pet adoptions all day long.
“A lot of families shy away from the tough-looking canines, but we adore our block-headed breeds!” said Dr. Karen Sheppard, Director of Huntsville Animal Services. “They are enthusiastic, engaging, healthy and typically, low maintenance.
“We host daily doggy playgroups to demonstrate our dogs’ social skills. Our favorite players are often these block-headed babies!”
Among those friendly faces at Huntsville Animal Services is Lucario.
Lucario, named after a dog-like Pokémon, will hog all the petting from your guests as soon as they walk in the door! Sheppard said this 1-year-old neutered male would do best in a home without other dogs.
“While this lovebug might require a little patience, he’ll be outside playing fetch in no time,” she said.
