STAC Agents Make Drug Trafficking Arrests

Huntsville, Alabama (April 27, 2017) The Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force (STAC) has charged two people in the past week for Drug Trafficking in separate investigations.

 

On April 21, STAC Agents conducted a takedown on Jennifer Hopper, a drug trafficker from Jackson County. This takedown was conducted after a two month investigation into the distribution of large amounts of “Ice” by Hopper in North Alabama. Agents observed Hopper arrive at an address on Little Cove Road in Gurley.  She was detained and Agents recovered approximately one kilo of methamphetamine ice, and nearly $6,000 in cash. The street value of the “Ice” was estimated to be nearly $100,000. Hopper was arrested and booked into the Madison County Jail for Trafficking Methamphetamine.

On April 22, STAC Agents, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and the Decatur Police K-9 conducted a takedown of Andreas Salazar, a drug trafficker who was in the Decatur area.  Agents watched Salazar pull into a local establishment and made contact with him.  The Agents had information that Salazar was in possession of a large amount of cocaine, and they called for the Morgan County K-9 as well as a K-9 from the City of Decatur. After a brief investigation agents located seven kilos of cocaine (15.4 pounds) behind the speedometer plate of the vehicle.  The street value of the cocaine was approximately $700,000 dollars. Salazar was arrested and booked into the Morgan County Jail for Trafficking Cocaine.
