Here’s five tips that you might not have thought about in your spring cleaning and is also good for the environment.

  • Declutter with purpose: That’s a good first step toward removing unwanted items from your own. Go through each room and decide what you truly need. Have you used an item in the past year? If not, maybe it goes. But instead of tossing items in the trash, consider donating them to local charities or recycling them.
  • Choose eco-friendly cleaning products: Some conventional cleaning products may contain chemicals that can be harmful to both your health and our environment. Use cleaning products that are biodegradable and less toxic. You can also make your own cleaning solutions using simple ingredients like vinegar and baking soda. For example, a mixture of vinegar and water works well for windows and surfaces, while baking soda is excellent for scrubbing tough stains.
  • Use reusable cleaning tools: Swap paper towels for washable cloths. Consider mops with washable pads instead of disposable ones.
  • Use nature’s cleaning power: Open windows and let sunshine and fresh air help eliminate odors and bring a sense of renewal to your home. Sunlight can also help kill germs and bacteria. Consider taking fabrics like curtains and cushions outside for a good shake and freshening up in the sun.
  • Clean Your Appliances: Give your appliances some spring-cleaning love. love. Run a cycle with a cup of vinegar in your dishwasher to help eliminate buildup. Regularly cleaning appliances not only extends their lifespan but also improves their efficiency, which benefits the environment.

Let this spring-cleaning season serve as a reminder that caring for our homes and our community go together.
