Big Spring Park Renovations

Something’s happening in Big Spring Park. The city’s most well-used and beloved park is finally getting a $2 million face-lift that includes some badly needed repairs. If you head down to the park, you will notice a large green fence sectioning off areas where work is occurring. The park renovation is expected to take eight months. The Color Run will take place Saturday September 3rd in the downtown area. The event will start in waves at 8:00 a.m. with the last wave of participants leaving the starting area no later than 9:00 a.m. The event is expected to draw 3,000-4,000 participants and will create heavy congestion in the downtown area. The Huntsville Police Department D.U.I. Task Force will be conducting Traffic Safety Checkpoints over the weekend. The Task Force utilizes data provided by the State that determines traffic accident hotspots across the city. Huntsville Fire & Rescue along with HPD and HEMSI will be taking part in a Day of Remembrance on September 11th 2016 at Huntsville Fire Station #1 located at 2110 Clinton Avenue.
