City Council – Meeting Highlights from October 12, 2017

New President District 2 Council Member Mark Russell was honored early in Thursday’s Huntsville City Council meeting with his 15-year pin for service to the City. Then at meeting’s end, he was elected as the Council President. It will be his tenth term in that role. On September 20, 2017, Huntsville Police officers responded to a home invasion at an address on Green Meadow Drive. One of the victims managed to escape after being shot five (5) times and fled to a neighbor to call for help. After the escape of one victim, the offender, Haraesheo Rice, then led the second (2nd) victim who had already been shot in the face, from the residence at gunpoint. [more]

Huntsville Police are investigating the shooting death of George Carl Jarrett (3/12/1983) of Meridianville, Al. On Saturday September 30, 2017 at approximately 6:50 PM Huntsville Police received a call about a traffic accident near the intersection of Adventist Boulevard and Wynn Drive. In addition to rescuing people from burning buildings or stranded cats from trees, Huntsville Fire & Rescue is partnering to help rescue dogs and cats in need of adoption.
