Grab your cape! Ribbon cutting, superhero reunion this weekend at Huntsville Animal Services

Published on August 23, 2022

Adoption superheroes and their canine sidekicks are invited to Huntsville Animal Services at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, for a “superhero reunion.” The Adoption League of Superheroes – people who answered the call to rescue shelter animals by providing fur-ever homes – will gather for a reunion filled with free activities and treats that are sure to get tails wagging.

“If you’ve ever volunteered here, fostered a pet or adopted an animal, come!” said Animal Services Director Dr. Karen Sheppard. “You’re welcome to bring your furry friends, too.”

The reunion will include fun, dog-friendly activities, pup cups for any canine attendees, popsicles for humans and photo ops.

In addition to reunion activities, Mayor Tommy Battle will cut the ribbon on the shelter’s newly completed Phase III renovations. Guests will have an opportunity to tour the new section of the shelter following the ribbon cutting.

Aug. 27 will also be the last day to take advantage of waived adoption fees for most adult animals at the shelter, so anyone considering adopting a pet is encouraged to attend.

All adoptable pets are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped and come with a City license and free bag of pet food. Those unable to adopt are asked to consider fostering an animal through the shelter’s foster program.

The shelter is located at 4950 Triana Blvd SW and is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
