The City of Huntsville is now accepting applications for its 2025 Summer Intern Program, offering an exceptional career-building opportunity for college students. The program is available to individuals 19 years or older, with a high school diploma or GED and is open to current students or recent graduates from accredited colleges and universities.

Applications will be accepted through 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5. The eight-week program will select up to 10 interns working part-time (up to 29 hours per week, depending on the department’s needs) and earning $12.76 per hour.

Internships are available in a variety of City departments, including:

“We are excited to again offer this opportunity to college students seeking hands-on experience and personal growth,” said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. “This program provides invaluable exposure to real-world work environments, helping students build professional skills, expand their networks and shape their futures.”

The internship program will run from June 2 to July 25. In addition to on-the-job training, interns will have the opportunity to connect with professionals and peers, gaining a deeper understanding of municipal operations, and work with the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to learn how the City supports and engages with the Huntsville community.

To apply, interested candidates should review the job listing, complete the online application, and attach their resume and essay question responses. Interviews will be conducted in March for eligible applicants, and those selected to continue in the hiring process will be notified shortly after.
