City of Huntsville closure information for Christmas Holiday

The City of Huntsville’s municipal offices will be closed for all non-essential personnel for the Christmas Holiday on Wednesday, December 25 and reopen on Thursday, December 26. Details can be found below on how this closure impacts some City services:

Garbage Collection:  Wednesday’s residential curbside collection will be picked up on Thursday, December 26. Households whose normal garbage pick-up day is on Thursday will have their garbage collected on Friday, December 27.

Public Transit:  Shuttle bus and paratransit service (Handi-Ride) will end at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, and not be in service on Wednesday, December 25. Normal operating hours will resume on Thursday, December 26.

Parks & Recreation:  Recreation centers and facilities will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, and will reopen on Thursday, December 26.

Animal Services:  The Animal Shelter and Animal Services will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, be closed on Wednesday, December 25, and reopen on Thursday, December 26.

Municipal Court:  Municipal Court will keep regular operating hours with the exception of closure Wednesday, December 25.  Municipal Court will resume normal operating hours on December 26.

Public Safety:  Police and Fire will remain on duty throughout the holiday.
