City of Huntsville municipal offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 19, due to continued travel issues from this week’s winter weather event.

Offices were set to reopen at 11 a.m. today, but after reassessing road conditions, the decision was made to close to ensure employees’ safety. All offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22.

The closure means court functions, government offices, services, trash collection and transit operations will not operate. Access paratransit will continue to transport dialysis patients.

“There are still some slick spots out there and we don’t want to jeopardize anyone’s health or safety,” Mayor Tommy Battle said.
