Voting machines have been tested in advance of the Aug. 25 municipal election.

The City of Huntsville’s municipal election is Tuesday, Aug. 25, for City Council seats in Districts 2, 3 and 4 and Huntsville City Schools Board of Education seats in Districts 2 and 3.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Election results will be updated online in real-time. The City Council will certify the election results at a special session on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at noon in City Hall Council Chamber.

City Clerk Shaundrika Edwards – the City’s Election Official – participated in a test of voting machines on Wednesday and met with poll workers.

“Everything is in place for the municipal election,” Edwards said. “We encourage everyone to make their voice heard in Districts 2, 3 and 4 and cast a ballot.”

Sample ballots can be viewed on the City’s website. Absentee ballots must be hand-delivered to the City Clerk’s office in City Hall by 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24. Mailed-in absentee ballots must be postmarked by Aug. 24.

Voters can confirm their voting status and poll location by visiting the Alabama Secretary of State website.
