The left side features the department’s badge and bold text stating ‘Now Accepting Applications’ and ‘Citizens Police Academy,’ along with a deadline to register by Friday, Aug. 7 and a blue ‘Apply Now’ button. The nine-week program gives participants an inside perspective on the people, training and teamwork behind modern policing. Through classroom discussions, demonstrations and hands-on activities, those in the academy will learn about the department’s specialized units, daily operations and the decisions officers make while serving the community.

“Most people only see a small part of what our police department does,” HPD Lt. Brandon Hill said. “Our goal with this program is to provide an honest and informative experience that helps people better understand our mission while building stronger connections with the community.”

The Fall 2026 academy begins Tuesday, Sept. 15, and ends Nov. 17. Classes will be held each Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Huntsville Public Safety Training Academy, 5365 Triana Blvd. SW.
