District 1 Residents Respond to Annual Satisfaction Survey

Published on June 2, 2021

D1 residents responded to Council Member Devyn Keith’s annual Resident Satisfaction Survey by giving strong marks to parks and recreation, public safety, job offerings and housing options. Residents report general to high satisfaction with the 911 call center, Fire & Rescue and Police services, Animal Control, garbage pickup, recycling collection, neighborhood cleanup events, code enforcement and public transit. One area where they would like to see more investment is street repair and resurfacing.

“It was affirming to see folks living in District 1 value the improvements and investment we have made in the area,” Keith said. “But no matter how many parks and schools we build, libraries and urban renewal projects, everyone still wants to see their neighborhood road repaved.”

The D1 survey showed 60.82% of residents were well satisfied with their quality of life with another 21.62% remaining neutral and the remaining 17.57% as dissatisfied.

The digital survey was open to residents for about five weeks, from the end of March through May 4. The data helps Council Member Keith better understand the needs and values of his residents and how they communicate with the City.

“Even though the results are positive, there’s always room for improvement, and I’ll continue to work for the residents in District 1,” Keith said.

For those who were unable to complete the survey, Keith welcomes comments via email Devyn.Keith@HuntsvilleAL.gov or by calling 256-427-5011.
