Girls Garage shifts into gear this fall with hands-on lessons in car care

Girls Garage, the popular Huntsville Parks & Recreation program, is back this fall for three Saturday sessions at a new location at Johnson Legacy Center.

Girls Garage empowers women and girls to build confidence in handling basic car care and maintenance. The free, hands-on program is open to ages 15 and older. Space is limited and registration is required.

Participants can choose from three Saturday sessions: Sept. 12, Oct. 10 and Nov. 14 from 9-10 a.m. at the Johnson Legacy Center, 6001 Cecil Fain Dr. Registration is through Parks & Recreation’s online registration platform and classes are expected to fill quickly. Register today.

With guidance from Parks & Recreation staff and the City’s Fleet Department, participants will learn practical skills such as checking oil levels, jumpstarting a battery, changing a tire and more.

“We’ve received great feedback from participants complimenting the Girls Garage program,” said Director of Parks & Recreation James Gossett. “This fall, we’re also excited to offer sessions at a new location, giving participants another opportunity to experience Girls Garage and learn practical car care skills.”

All skill levels are welcome to attend.
