Huntsville Police is completing its 5th  year of maintaining the drug take back program for unwanted and unused drugs. The third quarter of 2020, the drug take back bins have taken in 558lbs of unused drugs. The total taken for 2020 thus far is 1093 lbs. This is the highest quarter weight we have had since the programs inception in 2016. The second highest weight of 554 lbs occurred in the first quarter of 2019.

Disposing of your unused or unwanted medications is great way to keep those around you safe and keeping medications out of our water system. If you have unwanted or expired prescription drugs that need to be discarded, the 815 Wheeler Ave location remains available 24/7 and the lobby desk is staffed by HPD Officers. The precinct locations are Mon-Fri during business hours.
