Huntsville takes step to replace bridge on Hobbs Island Road

Published on

The City advanced plans to replace a bridge on Hobbs Island Road, approving an engineering design services contract with AECOM Technical Services.

Plans call for a new two-lane bridge to be constructed over Aldridge Creek near the Aldridge Creek Greenway about a half mile east of U.S. 231. The bridge and approaching roadway will cover about 3,000 feet of improvements.

The design and permitting is anticipated to take one year with construction to follow shortly after. This will provide relief to existing neighborhoods on Ditto Marina Parkway since the new bridge will adequately accommodate truck traffic.
