The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) announced Tuesday that the 2020 and 2021 CCSA Beach Volleyball Championship will be moving to the John Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex in Huntsville.
The 2020 edition marks the fifth championship for the CCSA in the sport of Beach Volleyball. The 2020 Championship will take place on April 17-19.
CCSA Commissioner Jerome Rodgers expressed his excitement about the event moving to a new venue. “Extremely happy to work with Colleen Craig of Rally Volleyball and the staff at John Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex as we start to plan for our first exciting weekend of Beach Volleyball in April at this amazing facility,” Rodgers said. “This new beach volleyball complex will provide our student-athletes, coaches, administrators and fans with a great championship experience. We want to thank Tommy Battle, the Mayor of Huntsville, and his leadership team for their on-going collaboration as we embark on this new partnership.”
“This championship tournament fulfills a community vision to offer new sporting opportunities through a state-of-the-art Sand Volleyball Complex,” said Mayor Battle. “We will be delighted to welcome the CCSA collegiate teams to Huntsville, and we plan to show the players what a great city we have in the hopes some of these athletes might return here to live and work one day.”
The 2020 CCSA Beach Volleyball Championship will be played over the course of three days from April 17-19, 2020. All 12 league teams will travel to Huntsville and compete in pool play, with the semifinal and final matches played on Saturday and Sunday. Florida State has won four consecutive CCSA Beach Volleyball Championships and look for the five-peat in 2020. College of Charleston, FAU, FIU, Georgia State, LSU, South Carolina, Southern Miss, TCU, Tulane, UAB and UNCW all will compete and battle to be crowned first-time CCSA Beach Volleyball champions.
