Signalized intersection coming to Memorial Parkway access roads

Huntsville will soon move forward with changes to the access road intersection below the Memorial Parkway overpass between Drake Avenue and Airport Road.
Colloquially known as “Useless Overpass,” the access road below the overpass will become a full signalized intersection. The changes will not affect Memorial Parkway traffic traveling on the mainline, however, there will be lane closures for those using the service road near this area.
The City entered a construction contract with Rogers Group for the intersection improvements, to include a new signalized intersection with turn lanes for safe access to new developments around Joe Davis Stadium from all directions. The new intersection will differ from other underpasses, and motorists should follow all traffic control devices during construction and when completed. The city anticipates work to begin early next year, once materials have been secured, and completed within 90 days.
