17th annual Mayor’s Bike Ride to bring temporary traffic delays to downtown Huntsville

Drivers traveling through downtown Huntsville on Saturday, May 2, should expect temporary traffic delays as the 17th annual Mayor’s Bike Ride rolls through the city.
The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) will provide traffic control for the event, which begins at 11 a.m.
Church Street between Clinton Avenue and Williams Avenue will be closed between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Participants will line up on Church Street near Big Spring Park prior to the start of the ride. Church Street will remain closed for the duration of the event.
As cyclists move through downtown, officers will conduct rolling traffic interruptions, briefly stopping vehicles at intersections to allow participants to pass safely. The route includes:
- South on Church Street
- East on Williams Avenue
- North on Fountain Circle
- East on Gates Avenue
- North on Washington Street
- East on Monroe Street
- North on Meridian Street
- East on Howe Avenue
- South on Dallas Street
- East on Walker Avenue
- South on White Street
- West on Randolph Avenue
- South on Greene Street
- East on Williams Avenue
- South on Adams Street
- West on Lowe Avenue
- North on Madison Street
- West on Manning Drive
- North on Fountain Row
- West on Williams Avenue
- North on Church Street, returning to Big Spring Park
Drivers should plan for brief delays along the route and use caution when traveling in the downtown area.
HPD would also like to remind drivers to remain alert for cyclists and share the road safely.
