Councill High School Alumni and City Announce Renovation Plans for Historic School

The William Hooper Councill High School Alumni Association joined Mayor Tommy Battle and representatives from the Huntsville Housing Authority today in announcing a plan to preserve portions of the historic school property on St. Clair Avenue and to memorialize the site as the first public school for African-American students in the city. Huntsville Police Department Burglary Investigators have charged 55 year old Anthony Watkins of Huntsville with Burglary and Possession of Burglar Tools. The arrest follows a months long investigation into shed burglaries that were occurring in Huntsville. Investigators put in numerous man hours investigating these burglaries and building a suspect profile. On August 22, Agents with the Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force (STAC) charged 35 year old Galvan Franco with Trafficking in Methamphetamine.
