Big Spring Park Reopens after $2 Million Renovation

Nine months of major renovations to Big Spring Park are complete, giving residents an opportunity to celebrate spring in a dramatically improved urban oasis. The $2 million renovation to the City’s most popular park included a host of infrastructure repairs and upgrades – replacing crumbling seawalls, improving pedestrian connectivity, new lighting and electrical, fountains, and more. To save money and time, the City performed half of the work with in-house crews. [more]

The City’s Department of Parks and Recreation and the Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center are hosting an inaugural Senior Fishing Rodeo on Thursday, April 20, at 9 a.m., in Brahan Spring Park’s North Lagoon. Seniors ages 55+ are invited to enjoy a free morning of fishing and camaraderie. The Madison-Morgan County HIDTA Drug Task Force (STAC) charged four Huntsville men with Drug Trafficking over the weekend. Friday April 14, STAC Agents stopped two vehicles involved in a marijuana distribution organization.
