Annual Trail Of Tears Ride

The Huntsville Police Department want to warn motorists about the closing of West bound I565 entrance ramps tomorrow, Saturday September 15th, through the City of Huntsville and Madison County from approximately between 9am-10am for the Trail of Tears Motorcyclists. As the convoy of motorcycles passes each entrance ramp, the ramp will be opened back up. Below is the path the ride will be taking.

 

The ride will come into Huntsville from the east along Hwy 72, continue along I-565 to Exit 3 and stop at Polaris Industries 7049 Greenbrier Road for 2 hours for lunch, leave at 12:30 and take Greenbrier back to access road to Mooresville Road to Hwy 72 east of Athens and continue west on Hwy 72. All entrance ramps to travel westbound on I-565 will be closed for the safety of the riders in the event as the ride travels through Huntsville.  The Huntsville Police Department will be coordinating the ride and working with the Alabama State Troopers, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Scottsboro Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Madison Police Department, Limestone County Sheriff’s Department, Athens Police Department, Florence Police Department, local volunteer fire departments and HEMSI as the ride approaches, travels through and exits Huntsville.

 

The only changes for this year is that the ride will stop at Polaris Industries at 7049 Greenbrier Road back to access road to Mooresville Road to Hwy 72 east of Athens and continue west on Hwy 72. All entrance ramps to travel westbound on I-565 will be closed for the safety of the riders in the event as the ride travels through Huntsville.
