Proclaiming October 13 as WLRH DAY

Published on October 12, 2016

Mayor Tommy Battle will present a proclamation Thursday morning, Oct. 13, to local radio station WLRH for its 40 years of service to our community. WLRH, 89.3 FM, is Huntsville’s only National Public Radio-affiliated station.

“WLRH’s commitment to local artists, news and commentary, public service announcements, and its focus on Huntsville’s culture has made us a little smarter and a little intellectually richer,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “We are honored to recognize their efforts and their important place in our community with this proclamation declaring Thursday, October thirteenth, as WLRH Day in Huntsville.”

Huntsville’s non-profits rely heavily on WLRH to get the word out on their community activities and fundraisers. In a world of increased noise, the station’s eclectic mix of music, storytelling and interesting programs provide a welcome place for citizens to tune in.
