With fun events throughout July, Huntsville celebrates Park and Recreation Month 2026

Celebrate Parks and Recreation Month in July with a variety of fun and exciting events for the entire family.

The month’s theme of “The Power Of” recognizes how parks and recreation brings people together, supports health and well-being and builds stronger, more connected communities. Throughout July, the City’s Parks & Recreation Department is celebrating the power of connection, play, community, nature and well-being.

“Quality of life is one of the many reasons people choose to call Huntsville home,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “Through our parks, recreation facilities and programs, we continue to invest in amenities that strengthen our community and enhance everyday life for residents.”

Christian, a participant in Huntsville Parks & Recreation’s Male Mentorship Program, shared how recreation programs help people build confidence, make connections and grow, demonstrating the Power of Parks & Recreation.

Parks & Recreation Month events
Parks & Recreation Month will feature events and programs throughout July that recognize the power of recreation.

“The Power of Parks & Recreation can be seen every day in Huntsville,” Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett said. “Our parks, programs and facilities create opportunities for people to connect with one another, stay active, enjoy nature and build a stronger sense of community.”
