Supporting students at Oakwood University
May 11, 2026While attending the Oakwood University Gold & Blue Scholarship Gala, I was privileged to present a check for $22,000 from the District 5 Council Improvement Fund to the school to support growth and success of its students. Huntsville is blessed to have an elite and a diverse collection of colleges and universities that prepare their students to enter the workforce in a wide range of careers.

May 11, 2026I’m always happy to support students at Columbia High School and recently presented a $5,000 check to the Eagles’ girls outdoor track team from the District 5 Council Improvement Fund. High school sports teach so many life lessons and I consider it an invaluable part of a student’s education. Accepting the check was Columbia track Coach Taylor Jones and Principal Lenoise Richey.
